Pass Plus ² save upto 50%
PASS PLUS is a training scheme for new drivers. It's much more than just a few extra lessons. This is a specially designed course by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.PASS PLUS consists of six practical modules which cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. You can take it at any time within the first 12 month of passing your test.
There is no test at the end of it – your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:
- achieved – successfully reached the standard required for each of the competencies.
- exceeded – exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies.
Motorway ³
When you've just passed your test, the thought of driving on the motorway can be quite scary. But don't worry, motorways are the safest roads in the country. But mistakes on the motorway can have very serious consequences. You're best to have a lesson to learn the rules of safe motorway driving first.
Here are some tips for driving on the motorway:
- Plan well ahead.
- Make sure you know which junctions you need.
- Obey the speed limits (including lower limits due to congestion, weather or road works).
- Use your fog lights where there is poor visibility.
- Leave a gap between you and the vehicle in front of at least 2 seconds, 4 if in bad weather.
- Keep to the left lane, the other lanes are for overtaking.
- Plan your journey, you must take a break of at least 15 minutes every couple of hours to keep yourself fit for the journey.
- Tiredness can kill, and greatly increases your crash risk.
Mock Driving Tests ¹
As you approach test readiness it is advised to take a mock test with an instructor, who will as close as possible simulate a full UK driving test and de-brief.This will give you
- An idea of how you will react on the day of test.
- An idea of which skills you need to brush up on.
- What to expect during the test.
